A small retreat up in the Renon above Bolzano.

STORY

Willy and Birgit run the Vögele, a cult restaurant in Bolzano. They had the opportunity to buy a small hotel in Soprabolzano, Renon, just above Bolzano. According to Willy, the ageing Bergfink was to become the new Vögele up in the mountains... until we got involved in the project, that is.

WHO

We got down to business right away: opened the grappa and decided who’d run the hotel. The entire family is cool, so it wasn’t easy, but luckily enough the pair’s son, Andi, and his charming girlfriend Julika volunteered first. Ah, to be young and bold again! We now had our answer: NOA and PEPPIS could get to work.

WHAT

The property was what it was, so we wouldn’t transform it into a resort. Plus, that has MASS TOURISM written all over it. Ew, thanks but no thanks. We could see it be a pretty rad guesthouse. A gloriette, actually, a nostalgic summerhouse in the garden, like rich Bolzano merchants and aristocrats have always had on the Renon. Bingo – we had our unique concept coupled with a pair of charming hosts.
